Collaboration Cocktail

The beauty of working with a lot of small business and restaurants is that you meet a lot of creative people.  Recently, moxYcello received a shout-out from Uncorked Kitchen when they were featured in Denver Life Magazine.  We’re excited to share those details with you here as well as where you can taste this creative libation only available at their restaurant.

Check out the Denver Life article “Flask Forward” to read about the inspiring cocktail called the Ginger Barrel.  Click the link above for the recipe & the Denver Life article.  Don’t forget to come back and click the link below to learn about the most creative bourbon that’s ever graced a barrel.

This is by far one of our favorite hangouts and where we can have our Ginger Barrel cocktail made for us.  It’s not on the menu so you will need to ask for it.  I promise you – it’s well worth it.

Ginger Cocktails

The Monogram

  • 1.5-oz moxYcello Ginger
  • 1.5-oz Vodka
  • .5 oz Dry Vermouth
  • .5 oz Lemon Juice
  • .5 oz Simple

Combine ingredients in cocktail shaker and vigorously shake things up.  Pour in a frozen martini glass or over your favorite craft ice.  Savory addictive goodness!

Penicillin

  • 1-oz moxYcello Ginger
  • 2-oz Whiskey, or bourbon
  • .5 oz Lemon Juice
  • .5 oz Simple

Combine your ingredients in a shaker. Stir, or shake, thoroughly, pour over craft ice and garnish with candied ginger

Ginger Mint Julep

  • .75-oz Gingercello
  • 1.5-oz Whiskey
  • 1.5 oz OJ
  • .5 oz Simple syrup
  • .25 oz Lime juice
  • 3-4 mint leaves

Stir this preparation so you do not breakdown your flavors too much.  You can choose how much mint essence is your cocktail by adding more mint and/or substituting basic simply syrup with mint simple syrup.  Add your mint, give it a light muddle, combine your spirits and juices, and add ice on top.  Stir until fully chilled and pour into your favorite glass.  We use the coup glass, but any glass without a hole will work, too.  🙂

Kickin' Mule

  • 1.5-oz *Vodka
  • 1-oz Gingercello
  • .5 oz Lime Juice
  • 3-4 mint leaves
  • 3-4 oz Ginger beer

This is a ‘build-in-the-cup’ preparation.  Combine your ingredients in your copper mug and when you add your mint give a slight bruising, or muddle, to release some of that mint goodness.  If you don’t have a copper mug, a Collins glass is your next best option.  *Substitute vodka for whiskey to make a Kentucky Mule.

Western Slope

  • 2-oz Whiskey
  • .75-oz moxYcello Ginger
  • 1 oz peach simple syrup
  • .25 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 2-3 slices fresh peaches
  • 3-dashes black walnut bitters

Muddle peaches with your prepared peach simple syrup.  Add spirits and reaming ingredients in your shaker and add ice over the top.  Shake gently for about 25-30 times. This will incorporate the ingredients enough without destroying the spirits.  You’ll need to double-strain this one to separate the muddled peaches from your now beautifully prepared cocktail.  Serve over craft ice in a rocks glass.

Autumn Pear Bramble

  • .25 c muddled Pear
  • 1 oz Pear Simple
  • 2-oz Whiskey
  • .75-oz moxYcello Ginger
  • .5 oz Cinnamon Simple
  • .25 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 3 dashes black walnut bitters

This one is a bit more complicated with a little of this and a little of that, but it’s worth the effort.  Muddle your pear and pear simple to start. Combine remaining ingredients and shake for a count of 30.  Pour over craft ice in your rocks glass.  *Cinnamon simple recipe can be found under the Old Cinner cocktail found under moxYcello Orange.

Ginger Cosmo

  • 1-oz moxYcello Ginger
  • 1-oz Vodka
  • .5 oz Lime Juice
  • .5 oz Simple
  • 1.5 oz Cranberry Juice

Combine ingredients in cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.  Serve UP in frozen martini glasses or in a rocks glass with your favorite craft ice.  This is not your mamma’s Cosmo!  The Ginger adds a spiciness that isn’t too strong and keeps you coming back for more!

Ginger's Mimosa

  • 1-oz moxYcello Ginger
  • 2-oz Pomegranate Juice
  • Top with Prosecco
Combine first 2 ingredients in your glass and top with bubbles. Enjoy!

Poms Up

  • 1-oz moxYcello Ginger
  • 2-oz Vodka
  • 1/2 oz Lime Juice
  • 2 oz Pomegranate Juice
  • 1-inch wedge of fresh orange

Muddle orange wedge and vodka in the bottom of cocktail shaker.  Combine remaining ingredients and shake vigorously.  Pour in a rocks glass over your favorite craft ice.  Lightly sweet & savory!

Spicy Mojito

  • 1-oz Gingercello
  • 1-oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Lime juice
  • 1 oz molasses simple
  • 4-6 mint leaves
  • 3-4 oz Club Soda

We build this is a glass, too.  Add your mint in the bottom of the glass and then your simple.  Muddle the mint to release the oils.  Add the remaining ingredients on top.  Give everything a gentle stir and add ice to the top.  If you want to make this with a light rum, sub out the vodka and add regular simple syrup.

To make molasses simple, combine 1/2 teaspoon molasses to 1 cup simple syrup.  Keep that in the fridge for up to a month.

Crimson Harvest Moon

  • 1 oz Apple Simple
  • 2-3 slices of apple to muddle
  • .75-oz moxYcello Ginger
  • 2-oz Vodka
  • 1 oz POM pomegranate juice
  • 2-3 dashes old-fashion bitters

You can shake this cocktail, but I prefer it stirred.  It will be a bit spicier if you do.  First muddle your apples with the apple simple then combine remaining ingredients and stir for a 30-count.  If you just have to shake it up increase your Ginger by a quarter ounce and maybe another dash of bitters to match this adult cider cocktail’s intensity.  Alternatively, don’t change a thing to bring down the spiciness.

Golden Apple Boulevard

  • 1 oz Apple Simple
  • 2-3 slices of apple to muddle
  • .75-oz moxYcello Ginger
  • 2-oz Vodka
  • .75 oz Sweet Vermouth
  • .50 oz Fresh Lemon Juice

This subtle blend of fresh apple and moxYello Ginger definitely likes to be stirred.  Shaking it will destroy slight ginger tingle.  First muddle your apples with the apple simple then combine remaining ingredients. I typically stir for a 30-count, but you can play with how long to fit your tastes.  But, hey.  This is yours to play with at your home bar.  Increase the ginger ratio if you want use a shaker and keep that ginger present.

Ginger-Orange Cocktails

Blushing Pear Renaissance

  • .25 c muddled pear
  • 1 oz pear simple
  • 2-oz Vodka
  • .5 oz moxYcello Limone
  • .5 oz moxYcello Ginger-orange
  • .5 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1/8 – 1/4 dropper Almond Extract
  • 3 dashes old fashion bitters

This one will take a bit of time, but this bright and delicious cocktail is worth the effort.  Start by muddling your fruit and simple together.  When you get that mashed up enough add the remaining ingredients.  Shake for a 30-count and *pour into a chilled martini glass.  *note: If your cocktail is not the color of the image, you didn’t add enough bitters.

Ginger Orange Cello-Hound

  • 2-oz Ginger-Orange
  • 2-oz Grapefruit
  • .5 oz vodka
  • .5 oz Fresh lime juice.

Gently stir all the ingredients EXCEPT the Ginger-Orange.  Hold that until the end.  Strain your partial cocktail in either a rocks or Collins glass and add the Ginger-Orange at the end.

Ginger-Orange Julius

  • 1.5-oz Ginger-Orange
  • 1-0z Orangecello
  • 1-oz Fresh Orange Juice
  • .5 oz Lemon Juice
  • 4-5 dashes orange bitters

This cocktail can be shaken or stirred, but you will get stronger flavor if you stir this one.  Combine all until fully chilled. For the topping, you’ll need 1.5-2 ounces of heavy whipping cream and a wand frother (You can find one online for $10-$15).  Add more orange bitters, froth 10-15 seconds & pour over the top of your cocktail.  Add lemon zest for delicious aroma and garnish.

KONA Cocktails

Espresso Martini

  • 1.5-oz Kona Espresso
  • 1.5-oz Coffee Vodka
  • .5 oz Simple Syrup

To prepare, combine your ingredients, shake vigorously in a shaker.  Serve up in a frozen martini glass & enjoy.

We recommend you take the time to create your own coffee vodka.  All you need is your favorite beans & neutral grain spirits and it’s worth it.  Combine 1/2 cup of whole bean in 16 oz of spirits, shake a couple of times and in 7-days you will have your own coffee vodka.  If that simply doesn’t work for you there are coffee vodkas out there. Just be aware a lot of them come with added sugar and it will affect your cocktail so make adjustments.

The Revolver

  • 2-oz Whiskey
  • 1-oz moxYcello Kona Espresso
  • 4-5 dashes Orange Bitters

Manhattan meets Old Fashion!  Combine ingredients and stir gently.  This one does not need a lot of vigorous action.  Serve in a rocks glass neat.

White Russian

  • 1.5 oz Kona Espresso
  • 1.5 oz Vodka
  • .5 oz Simple syrup
  • 1/2 oz half & half

Noggin' Topper

  • 1.5 oz Kona Espresso
  • 1.5 oz Vodka
  • .25 oz Cinnamon  Simple syrup
  • 1/2 oz half & half
  • 2-3 Dashes Old Fashion Bitters
  • 1.5 oz Eggnog
  • Fresh Nutmeg

Preparation style: Shaken.  Based on the White Russian cocktail with a seasonal twist.   Combine moxYcello Kona Espresso, Vodka and other ingredients and shake for a 30-count.  Pour into your chilled martini glass, but be sure to leave room for your Nog.  You’ll need a frother for the next step.  Pour 1.5 ounces into a chilled stainless steel container for best results.  It will take you about 30-seconds to get it whipped up enough to float on top of your cocktail.  Next, take your fresh nutmeg and grate enough for your liking.  I like to cover the top, but you may want less.  The eggnog will gently seep into the cocktail infusing a gentle nog-flavor as you sip it down.

KONA Bliss

  • 2-oz Kona Espresso
  • 1-oz Whiskey
  • .5-oz Vodka
  • .5-oz Simple syrup
  • 1/8 ts Almond Extract

This cocktail is a luscious blend of KONA Espresso, combined with whiskey, and a touch of almond extract.  If you have amaretto, substitute the simple and almond extract for 1-oz of that instead.  On top is a decadent whipped cream infused with black walnut & orange aromatics.  It is then topped with lemon zest & a light sprinkle of demerara sugar.  Take your time with this one; it’s an experience to be savored to the last drop!

Chocolate Orange Peel

  • 1.5-oz Ginger-Orange
  • .75-oz KONA Espresso
  • 1.5-oz Whiskey

If you like a boozy cocktail, then we have a beauty for you.  This delicious and surprising combination is a must have in the tasting room or bring it home with a couple of bottles of your own.  The subtle Ginger-Orange added to our KONA evokes notes of chocolate.  And the whiskey?  Simply amazing!  Combine ingredients and stir for several seconds.  Pour over craft ice and add an orange peel.

Limoncello Cocktails

Limone Kiss

  • 1-oz Limone
  • 1-oz Vodka
  • 2-oz POM Pomegranate

Our vibrant Limencello is amazing with the added deliciousness of POM!  We really appreciate the smooth flavor of true POM so don’t cheat yourself on other brands.  Combine ingredients and shake vigorously.

Blackberry Limone

  • 1-oz Limoncello
  • 2-oz Whiskey
  • 1 oz Lemon juice
  • 1 oz Simple syrup

You get to both muddle and shake the dickens out of this one.  Add your blackberries to the bottom and give them a gentle, but thorough mashing.  Add your spirits and remaining ingredients.  Add ice on top and shake for 8-10 seconds.  If you like a little fruit in your cocktail simply strain into a rocks glass over craft ice.  If you like to remove the fruit parts, you’ll need a small strainer to pour your through.

Limoncello Lemon Drop

  • 1.5-oz Limone
  • 1.5-oz Vodka
  • .5 oz Fresh lemon juice
  • .5 oz Simple syrup

This popular cocktail is elevated with our latest release, Limone.  It’s a burst of fresh lemon mellowed just enough and never too sweet.  Combine ingredients and shake vigorously for 8-10 seconds.  Pour into chilled martini glass.

Orangecello Cocktails

Cello-Hound - Orange & Limone

  • .5-oz Limone
  • 2-oz Grapefruit juice
  • .5 oz vodka
  • .5 oz fresh lime juice

OCB Smash

  • 1.5-oz Orangecello
  • 1.5-oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Lime juice
  • 1 oz Simple syrup
  • 4 Basil Leaves
  • 4 cucumber slices

Add your cucumber in the bottom of your shaker and give it a light muddle.  If you want more cucumber flavor jab it a few more times.  The ice will do most of the work.  Next, bruise your basil a bit and add to your shaker.  Add the remaining spirits and liquids.  Add ice and shake 8-10 seconds.  Strain in a Collins glass filled with ice & garnish with a basil leaf.

Old Cinner

  • 1-oz moxYcello Orange
  • 2-oz Whiskey
  • .25 oz Cinnamon simple
  • 2-3 dashes old-fashion bitters

This is a ‘build in the glass’ classic Old-Fashion and true to its heritage it will be boozy.  Combine the ingredients and give it a good stir to blend.  The cocktail will change over time as your craft ice melts and will continue to deliver a complex flavor.

  • Cinnamon simple: combine 1 cup of water with 1 cup of white sugar.  Add 4-5 cinnamon sticks.   Bring this up to a boil for 5 minutes.  Let cool in the pan until you can easily handle the liquid and put into your favorite storage bottle.  Because this was boiled for 5 minutes it will be shelf stable.

Orangetini

  • 1.75-oz moxYcello Orange
  • 1.75-oz Vodka
  • .5 oz Lime Juice
  • .5 oz fresh OJ

  • .25 oz Lemon Juice
  • .25 simple

This is our take on a classic cocktail that dates back several decades.  We hold back a bit of the lemon to allow our moxYcello Orange to shine a bit more.  Combine ingredients in cocktail shaker  and shake vigorously, or stir briskly.  Serve UP in frozen martini glasses or in a rocks glass with your favorite craft ice.  Your cocktail, your choice!

Winter Solstice

  • .75-oz moxYcello Ginger
  • .75 moxYcello Orange
  • .25 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 2-3  dashes Old Fashion bitters

Preparation Style: shaken.  Inspired by our Old Cinner Old Fashion we took a new approach by adding moxYcello Ginger to the mix.  Combine all of your ingredients into your shaker and shake for a 30-count.  Strain into a rocks glass over craft ice and garnish with a Luxardo cherry.  This is a citrusy blend with a savory twist.  Enjoy.
